For the 2015 model year, the Ford F-150 caused a great disturbance in the truck world by stripping off its steel body panels, and cladding itself in lightweight aluminum.
"No!" the truck enthusiasts of Flagstaff collectively protested. It was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced when they saw the improvements in performance and the top-notch safety scores garnered by the aluminum F-150.
One of the greatest concerns pickup drivers expressed was safety. How could aluminum possibly be safer than steel? Yet in 2016, the F-150 was the only truck tested by the IIHS to earn a good rating for small-overlap protection.
The other big issue was expense and time of repairs. We will admit, not every auto body shop is equipped to handle aluminum-body repairs quickly and affordably -- but ours is! Visit Babbitt Collision Center in Flagstaff for all your F-150 body repair needs.
