Though baby boomers and millennials may clash on everything from music to politics, they are in complete consensus over one thing: SUVs.
"Some SUVs now rival the fuel efficiency of V6-powered midsize sedans from only a few years ago," said Mark LaNeve, Ford Motor Company vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, "and as baby boomers grew up with much less capable, much less efficient vehicles, they tend to appreciate the efficiency of Ford's newest SUVs."
Millennials are also driving SUV sales up, as many of this age group reach their prime child-rearing years. With the economy on the rebound, many who have been putting off starting a family are now planning for their first children -- and they want an SUV or a crossover as their family car.
"It's a demographic double whammy," said LaNeve, "and it all points to one thing – more SUVs for the foreseeable future."
